To boast the Indian tourism, the Maharashtra Government and the Indian Ministry of Railway jointly modeled the Deccan Odyssey that runs on the Konkan route of the Indian Railways. This 7 Nights / 8 Days journey starts every Wednesday from Chhatrapati Shivaji Rail Terminus of Mumbai and finally returns from the last destination Nashik to Mumbai. This luxury train is a small representation of Indian culture and offers you taste the delicious cuisines of the nation.
Deccan Odyssey has 21 well-maintained luxurious coaches. Among them 11 are deluxe passenger saloons, 2 presidential suite coaches, 2 restaurant coaches, 1 conference coach, one bar coach, one spa coach, one staff spare coach and 2 generator car coaches.
The conference room of the train has 50 seat capacities; equipped with satellite communication, high speed internet connectivity, telephone exchange, printer and fax which the passenger can use for their business meetings. Some other facilities that Deccan Odyssey offers are:
Sindhudurg is a small district of the state Maharastra is famous for its beaches, waterfalls, backwaters and pilgrimage centre. Earlier Sindhudurg was a part of the Ratnagiri district but for the administrative convenience and agricultural development the Rantnagiri district was divided in two parts namely Rantnagiri and Sindhudurg.
Tarkarli is a small village of Sindhudurg district. Every year the Ramnavami festival is celebrated gorgeously in Mapurush temple of Tarkarli village which one is very famous. Its exotic islands, beautiful sailboats and massive river give a beautiful look to Tarkarli. From the Tarakarli beaches Padmagarh Fort and Sindhudurg fort can be best sighted.
The beach city Goa is located in the Konkan region, western part of India. The renowned rock cut temples of Ellora shows the excellent artwork of the ancient talented sculptors. Ellora caves comprises of several art galleries and halls which have been cut out of the solid rock of a mountain; represents the three beliefs of Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism. During the period of 350 AD to 700 AD the caves were carved which are the best examples of cave-temple architecture. Ellora caves are comprised of 34 surprising caves put of them 17 are totally dedicated to Hinduism, 12 are for Buddhist and the rest of are dedicated to Jainism.
Ajanta Caves are beautifully placed in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra and have 30 marvelous rock-cut caves. Theses caves were discovered in last 1819 by a British army as the time passes away the remarkable place has become the most famous tourist destination places. These rocks cut caves cut out from the volcanic lava of the Deccan which walls and ceilings show some beautiful paintings of Lord Buddha.
The city Nashik is located in the northwest side of Maharashtra. People know the city by the name of Wine Capital of India. Kumbh Mela, one of the holiest festivals of Hindu is celebrated once in every 12 years in this city which is the prime attraction most of the pilgrims as well as for the tourist. The city has a huge mythological importance and considered as the most religious places of Hindus.

Arrive at Chhatrapati Shivaji Rail Terminus on Wednesday where Deccan Odyssey will wait for you to give you a warm welcome before starting your tour. Occupy your assigned seat inside the train and after few hours Deccan Odyssey will leave for Sindhudurg. Enjoy your dinner on board.
On arrival at Sindhudurg railway station you will have your morning breakfast in the train and will leave for Malvan Jetty. After that you will reach the beautiful Sindhudurg fort by enjoying boat tour. Visit the fort and then approach to Tarkarli resort to have your lunch. One of the fine A/C coach will take you to the Dhamapur village to visit the huge Cashew factory. There you can also visit some other attractions like Sateri Devi Temple, Bhagwati temple and Dhamapur Lake. After that you will return back to your train to move for Goa. Enjoy your dinner in the train.
Morning breakfast will be served to your cabin and after having breakfast you will reach Karmali railway station. In Goa you will firstly take a tour to its wonderful churches like St. Augustine Church, Basilica of Bom Jesus Church, Se Cathedral Church. At noon have your lunch at train and then move to watch the cultural extravaganza in a beach resort. Dinner will be served in the coast of the beach and then move to Verna Railway station. Deccan Odyssey will keep standing in the station for the whole night.
Early mornings take your breakfast and by the A/C coach you will be drive to visit Mangeshi temple, Safa Masjid and Sahakari Spice Farm at Ponda. After onboard lunch proceed to visit Menezes Braganza House at Chandor village. After dinner Deccan Odyssey will leave for Kohlapur.
In the morning you will reach Kohlapur railway station and after arrival you will visit the attractions of Kohlapur like The Shalini Palace, Mahalaxmi temple, New Palace etc. After onboard lunch Deccan Odyssey will depart for Daulatabad. Enjoy your journey and at night have your dinner.
Early morning Deccan Odyssey will appear at Daulatabad railway station. Take your breakfast and later move for the sightseeing of the city where you will visit the most surprised Ellora caves and Daulatabad fort.
Today morning you will reach Jalgaon railway station. Here you will visit a World Heritage Site Ajanta Caves and one of the A/C coach will drive you to there. Explore the most mysterious caves of Ajanta and then move to have your lunch at train. You will approach Tadoba National Park by an A/C coach; explore the vulnerable animals of the park by enjoying Jeep Safari. In the evening you will reach Nashik railway station and visit Panchwati Ghats and ancient temples of the place. At night come back to train and take your dinner. After dinner Deccan Odyssey will leave for Mumbai.
Early in the morning you will reach Mumbai railway station and check out from the train. Then approach to your home with the memory of the luxury train, Deccan Odyssey and your tour experience.
