About Splendor of The South

Splendor of the South provides a new way of tourism inside the Southern part of the country, India. One of the finest royal hospitality one can experience inside the newly launched one of the Indias luxury trains Splendor of the South, a property of Golden Chariot. The train slowly drives to you in the world of luxury and give a royal treatment inside the train. The Golden Chariot is a joint venture of the Ministry of Railways and State Government of Karnataka which drive you to the South Indians splendid palaces, backwaters, ancient heritage sites and vaied cultural avenues.

Coaches on Splendor of the South

With 19 majestically designed coaches Splendor of the South shows a magnificent view of the train. Each coach of the train is holding the name of various dynasties that were ruled by Karnataka at various time periods namely Adhilshahi, Bhahamani, Chalukya, Ganga, Hoysala, Kadamba, Rastrakota, Shathavashna, Sangama, Vijayanagar and Yudukula. Out of the 19 coaches, 11 coaches are specially designed for the passengers; two are for restaurants, two massage room & one gym, one conference saloon and the last one is a big lounge of bar.

Apart from that the air conditioned chambers holds 17 double bed cabins, 26 twin beds, one special cabin for physically challenged person, wardrobe, LCD television, Wi-Fi connection, DVD player, writing desk and one private room which includes all the lavish accessories.

Dining on Splendor of the South

Its two fine dining restaurants namely Nala and Ruchi provides a wide range of meal options where you can have your meal as per your selection.

Each luxurious restaurant offers mouth watering vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian dishes where you can also find some comfortable sofas, chairs and four as well as two-seater dining halls. The traditional bar can make available all varieties of drinking (wine) options as searched by the passengers which rejuvenate you and provide instant relaxation.

Day 1 : Bangalore - Chennai

Arrive in Bangalore and approach to visit the attractions of the city where you can see Cubbon Park, Lal Bagh gardens and the architecturally striking Vidhan Soudha. Before you leave for Bangalore Railway Station Leela Palace will experience you its splendor. In the evening at Bangalore Railway Station the gorgeous Splendor of the South will give you a warm welcome before your tour start.

Take your dinner at splendor of the South and move for Chennai.

Day 2 : Chennai - Mamallapuram

Early morning you will reach Chennai and then you will be drive to excurse Mamallapuram, placed at a distance of about 58 km from Chennai. The place has a lot of attractions to see that include the temple of Rathas, the Shore Temple and the Penance of Bhagirath. At noon, take a delicious lunch at Mahabalipuram and then move to excurse the other parts of the city. Some of the mostly visited tourist attractions of Chennai are Kapaleeshwarar Temple, St. Mary's Church, Fort St. George, Saint Thomas Cathedral, the National Art Gallery and Museum etc.
Before leave for Pondicherry, take your dinner on the train.

Day 3 : Pondicherry

At about 8 am you will reach Pondicherry. Take your breakfast on board and have a tour to the French colony of Pondicherry. Due to the availability of foreign and Indian people in this city, the city is divided in two parts one part is called Indian colony and the rest of the part is called non-Indian colony. Then the view of Auroville and Sri Aurobindo Ashram will lost you in its beauty.
Later on, you will move towards your next destination to Tiruchirapalli.

Day 4 : Tiruchirapalli - Thanjavur

After arrival at Tiruchirapalli, move to visit the attractions of the city likely Mathrubhuteshwar Shrine, Rock Fort Temple and Ucchi Pillayar Koil.
After the sightseeing at Tiruchirapalli, leave for Thanjavur which is famous for its temples and paintings. Visit Alangudi temple, Brihadeshwara temple, Schwartz Church and Chandra Bagawan temple over there. Take dinner on the train and go for a deep sleep.

Day 5 : Madurai

Early morning you will open your eyes in the second largest city of India, Madurai. After having your breakfast you will approach to the world famous Meenakshi Temple, Thiruparangundram temple and Thirumalai Nayak Palace. This pilgrimage site will surely take you in a different world.
Take dinner on the train and go for a deep sleep.

Day 6 : Thiruvananthapuram - Poovar

Upon arrival in the beach city, Thiruvananthapuram you will spend some of your valuable time in the Coast of the beaches, Poovar. Later on move to explore some other parts of the city that are the Napier Museum, Padmanabhaswamy temple and the Sri Chitra Art Gallery which are to see tourist come from abroad.

A wonderful dinner with music and dance shows of local people will fascinates your heart and soul.

Day 7 : Backwaters - Kochi

At 9 am you will arrive in the Gods Own Country, Kerala. The exotic beaches and the backwaters of the city will indulge your time and will take you out in a different world.
After a lavish dines at Kumarakom, Splendor of the South will drive you towards Kochi. The city Kochi is the gateway of Kerala is loaded with so many tourist attractions that include the Jewish Synagogue, Dutch Palace and St. Francis Church.

In the evening you will spare some moments in watching traditional Kathakali dance performance which will be specially arranged for you.
After dinner you will leave for Bangalore.

Day 8 : Bangalore (return)

Today morning you will arrive at Bangalore Railway station. Enjoy your leisurely breakfast on the train and then proceed to your next destination with the memory of South India tour with the Splendor of the South.
